This investigative article finding is BRUTALL, if indeed true, then time is counting down for OnePlus:

A lot of the things that happened that were mentioned in it made a lot of sense and can only come to an inevitable conclusion.

Never settle...

Ramblings from a mysterious lady who's into tech. Warning I may often create zingers.

That's some hardcore ChatGPT writing right there, but that aside, the end of OnePlus is not surprising. I'm surprised they were kept alive as long as they were.

It was inevitable. Their core audience were enthusiasts and techies looking for a cheaper alternative to the Nexus/Pixel line, but then they decided to betray that audience and went mainstream - and in doing so, they made some very unpopular decisions, and lost their core audience and their USP.

Meanwhile, budget Android phones got good enough for most folks, and traditionally bloated skins like OneUI weren't all that bad any more. Xiaomi and Nothing have filled that budget/enthusiast niche, and mainstream users have Samsung and Pixel. So it's not surprising OnePlus is left with very little market share.

MikeB4:

This story is not true.

Sure there are some skepticism but some of the things in the article like dropping in sales, market share, closure of offices, redundancy etc all point to the one conclusion.

There is also report that OnePlus Indian division CEO have come out and say things are BAU but a lot of the times is not what is said but what is done and reading between the lines.

So unless something drastically happens in the opposite direction in the next few months or years, I'd tend to believe there is substance to the article, albeit some of it written with AI.
