Just wondering if anyone has purchased this phone to use in NZ as I can't find much info online whether VoLTE and 5G is compatible for use in NZ.

Seeing that they've officially released the Magic V5 and 400 Pro, this means they have the NZ carrier configurations but there's no guarantee that the same carrier configuration is added to the 8 Pro as well.

I plan to purchase this phone but want to be 100% sure before I commit.

Per this thread https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=97&topicid=323447&page_no=2 there is mention of VoLTE enabled for all NZ operators and WiFi calling will be enabled via subsequent firmware update, this however applies only to Magic V5 and 400 Pro, not sure about the Magic 8 Pro though.

Yeah, I saw that thread and the comment from user freitasm but that was for the V5. It's a long shot but I wanted to see if there was anyone who actually bought one to use here who can answer from first-hand experience.

Just found out 2 Degrees have added an entry on their compatibility site https://www.2degrees.nz/help/mobile-help/calling-features/phones-compatible-with-volte-and-wifi-calling

Phone Make & Model

VoLTE

VoLTE Roaming

WiFi Calling

Honor Magic 8 Pro 5G

Yes

I use OneNZ though, if it's fully compatible on one carrier, would it be safe to assume it will be compatible with all other carriers in nz?

OneNZ, if you're reading this, can you do an official compatibility test please

Never assume that a handset will work on another carrier

Update: I purchased the phone from Mightyape, seller Heybattery.

The model is BKQ-N49, 7100mAh battery, got esim.

VoLTE call worked out of the box on One NZ network (I did a system update before putting in my sim card).

Confirmed working!
