Notice that in Telecom's 2nd quarter results released today, they say they'll be releasing an Android based smartphone. See page 9 of the presentation http://file.nzx.com/000/702/3319702.pdf

That's good news. :-)

Update: I didn't realise TNZ's year starts in April - so we're already half way through Q3. Even better!

Fingers crossed it's either the Google N1 v2 or the HTC Bravo ;)

Note that Q2 has passed - this would mean the presentation is based around the financial year, leaving until June to have this device around...

Hoping for the Bravo myself, simply because it might have an FM radio based on some of the pics of the menu floating around.

When the N1 V2 comes out for AT&T I guess folks can do the same thing they did for the N1 for Vodafone and get one from the US. It seems unlikely that TNZ will be offering the N1 - Google would not have enough phones to meet AT&T customer demands let alone outside the US.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

I wonder if it will be the HTC Desire, which will be available through Telstra in Australia - 3.7" AMOLED screen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor. and optical joystick.

Sorry to disapoint you all, but the phone coming out mid to end of march is the rather foul looking LG GW620. Hopefully it's only the first of many.......

I would be happy with the Desire.

Would probably get it over importing the AT&T Nexus One when it is available depending on the retail price.

Unless I am misreading or misunderstanding the specs, the Desire doesn't seem to do WCDMA at 850 so might not be able to take advantage of the XT 3G network (when it's actually working :-) ). OTOH the new Nexus One for AT&T apparently will so there's your tradeoff I guess.

Isn't Telstra Next G 850/2100 as well? Unless they're releasing a non 3G version...
