Hi folks,

I'm trying to buy some apps on the Market but having problems with my Google account. It asked me to sign in/create a Google account. I did that, but it kept taking me to the sync screen. The account is my Google-hosted domain one - does that matter?

Did you create a google account or a google checkout account?

Not sure what you've done, but here is what I have done and it works.

1. I have a Gmail account.
2. I login to the phone at setup with the gmail userid and password.

That sets the phone up to access Google services.

Then you go to the Market and open it. You accept the conditions.

If you try to buy a paid app, it will ask for credit cvard details. You provide them.

Away you go.

So...what happened to you again...*exactly*?

I seem to remember seeing somewhere that you couldn't use a Google Apps email account (yet) - it had to be GMail, but I may be wrong.

So...what happened to you again...*exactly*?

I have a dany@****.com account, which is my domain email hosted on Google Apps. So...

1. I clicked Buy on an app, and was taken to the login screen
2. I clicked Sign In, and use my domain account.
3. Upon successful login I was taken to the Sync screen.
4. Clicked Sync All since there are no other options (IIRC)
5. Taken back to the Market screen for the app.
6. Rinse...and repeat...

I managed to successfully go through the purchase by creating a new Google account - just a generic @gmail.com account. All is well now, but it bugged me that I had to have another account.

On a side note, my domain account has a Google Checkout account associated, and yet it still "doesn't work" on the Market.

interesting....
I have a domain email hosted on Google Apps and a gmail account associated with a google account.
So do I have to have a new google account associated with the domain email hosted on Google Apps?
Hope this makes sense :)

dpw: I guess if doesn't work, it doesn't work. On the bright side, once you have the market running, you can set the gmail account to forward all mail to your hosted domain Google Apps account.....and you'll have effectively what you want. You probably need never login to the gmail account again unless you want to change something. Can you sync the phone with the google apps account? If not via the gmail client, how about through the separate email client? Or the browser?

I tend to use the browser anyway as one can cut / paste text from gmail in the browser....but not from the Gmail app.

I had the same issue

I ended up having to use a proper gmail account to make it work.

I'm fascinated. I hadn't heard of hosted domains via Google Apps....and now everyone appears to have one. :-)

I best go check this out.
