Any thoughts on a good app to keep check on call minutes, data, sms, mms usage? I tried Credit Usage but its not really set up for the way we are charged here.
Thanks.

I use 3G Watchdog for data usage, and Phonalyzr for SMS and calls. Neither will do costs, but on my Nexus One they do provide accurate usage stats. I wish Phonalyzr was a bit more granular so I could, for example, drill down to send and receive stats by contact, instead of total send/rec by contact, but for a free app its not bad.  Until something better comes along ...

I've used 3G Watchdog. It worked well.

With the 3GB rolling promo on Vodafone I stopped monitoring data usage. I never get close to 3GB on one phone.

+1 for 3g watchdog. It breaks down data useage by day and it has an icon in the notfication area to quickly see how you are going. Also you can set the behaviour when you reach your limit e.g you can have the watchdog turn off you data if you want.

I use Netcounter which seems to work okay. It allows setting flags for daily and weekly limits and measures both wireless and wifi (though that's not so useful).

On a related issue my N1 seems to be downloading lots of data lately over 3G. It's strange since I have it connect to wifi when I am in range so I might be dropping my wifi connection without realising it so the N1 goes out over 3G instead. I have background sync turned on for contacts and calendar (Exchange) but that's all.

I haven't worked out what's going yet so I have turned off data over 3G till I work it out. I don't think it's related to Froyo since it only started about a week after I put Froyo on.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/rooms/32019730  Mention GZ to get a 10% discount

thanks, I have installed 3G Watchdog and that seems to be doing the job.
I have froyo installed and have not noticed any jump in 3G data usage so dont know what you may be experiencing.
On a side note, FroYo has really improved SIP calling, I now use SipAgent and 2Talk and have crystal clear voice with no lag or echo over WiFi.

I noticed a similar thing with mine, although it started before Froyo - could be an app that's doing it.  I now use Quick Settings to switch off 3G and GPRS (APN switch).  I could never get APNDroid to work.  When I need it I turn the APN control on: it's reduced my 3G usage to exactly zero when I don't need it, say when I pop out for lunch or while commuting.  When I need it it's there.

Oh, and +1 for 3G Watchdog. Great widget and reports.
