After a gentle hint from Mauricio on page 36 of the Tips and Tricks thread I thought I would start a new thread for problems or questions only - since I have one.

Late last week my weather widget stopped updating when I was connected to my wireless network at home.  However it works fine when I am connected to the wireless network at work.

Anyone else had theis problem or got a fix?

Cheers

i've noticed that too on my phone, and i'm not sure what causes it ... maybe not having an internet connection when it's trying to sync with the server.

in any case, i found that doing the following usually helps:

1. go to the weather widget
2. navigate to the "current location" city (sometimes it says the city and sometimes it just says New Zealand, dunno why)
3. hit the refresh button (bottom left side of the buttons panel)

it should re-sync with the server and refresh your data. then it'll show weather on the widget too :)

Hi Sonmica

Cheers for the reply.

I tried that and still no go. It is extremely odd as it used to work. I have no idea what has changed.

I found something else which may help, if you go to Settings > Accounts & Sync there is a section at the bottom to sync weather. Mine was actually unticked. I set it to sync and crossed my fingers that this would solve the problem!

Hi Sonmica

I checked that and it is ticked. It still won't work from home but seems to work anywhere in the CBD when I find an open network ;-) Odd.

Cheers

Just in case anyone is interested, all of a sudden the weather widget is working from home again and I haven't changed anything. Bizarre.

Hi Guys/Gals

Im having problems with my HTC Desire ( bought from Expert Infotech in Auckland, its a Singapore import ) after doing a factory reset. After factory reset, I setup the Vodafone APN info and then signed into my google account. Everything works fine....

Except the market.

When browsing apps, there is no longer the "Top Paid" tab anymore, there is only "top free" and "just in". I can see that paid apps are available in the home screen of Market, and when going to the "my downloads" section, I can see my purchased apps, so I know that i have signed in correctly and can actually purchase apps. But i cannot browse for paid apps.

Not only is the "top paid" tab gone, but when I install an app, it will download and install fine ( i get the "app instralled correctly" in the notification area ), but Market will sit there forever saying that the app is "installing". I have to kill the Market task to get it to reload itself and realise that the app is installed.

Does anybody have a clue as to whats going on here? Or how to fix it?

I tried having a look in the phandroid forums for you. maybe try this thread:

http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid/111989-major-market-problems.html

if that doesn't work, i'd suggest posting a thread asking for help there, i really have no idea how to go about helping you out with that problem :s (sorry)

Thanks for the link, unfortunately it answers a different issue than i have.

Ill try posting a question there and see if anyone can offer any insights into how to do a "true" factory reset. Ill update here if a fix is found.

Cheers for the help.

Update: Problem fixed...kinda

The problem appears to be my Google account. After a factory reset, created a new account, market worked perfectly. Did another reset, logged into my proper google account, problem appears.

Unfortunately, with the Desire, one cannot log into a Google account and then replace it with a new one without doing a factory reset. The market "locks" itself into the first Google account that was signed in.

Some users in the XDA forums have found that the market will fix itself after a few days with a "problem" Google account. So ill wait a week and see if that fixes it.

I have a desire and am syncing it with HTC sync (2.0.33) to Outlook 2007.

The PC to handset direction works fine.
Items I update on the handset then update the pc (so that works both ways).
But items (events or contacts) I create on the handset don't update the PC.

I have tried everything that looks like a setting on both the PC and handset. Does anyone have any ideas please?

I haven't tried HTC sync - I read somewhere on geekzone that it isn't the best piece of software

FWIW I've been using Google Calendar Sync, to synchronise my outlook calendar <-> google calendar <-> handset.  It works fine (for calendar items only).
