I just changed my sim card and am now getting a notication which looks like a simcard with cog wheel in the bottom righthand corner on my HTC Desire.  I did not get this with my old sim card.  I saw some previous threads on this but did not find one which explained what it was and how top remove it.  Any ideas?

Yea this was discussed in the tips and tricks thread. It's the SIM toolkit icon. No idea why it shows up for some people and not others but don't worry about it, your phone's working perfectly fine.
