I'm not sure if this is old news or not but I was watching the GP last night and got prompted for a small over the air update on my HTC hero.  I then got another prompt for another much larger (80mb) OTA update and I now have official android 2.1 running on my phone.

Firmware version 2.1-update 1
Software number 3.34.721.1

It was a long time coming but pleased it is finally here!

Good to hear!

The Hero is a worthy phone. Let us know how you get on.

Android v2.1 is a reasonable step up from v1.6.

How does the multi-touch work for you?
