If anyone wants to buy a Nexus One direct from Google and have it shipped to a US-based forwarding service, this is the URL you can use to bypass the location check at the Google Store.

At this URL you can place an order without cloaking or VPN.

https://www.google.com/phone/choose?hl=en&gl=US&s7e=

Hurry if you want one as they will not be selling any more directly once this batch is sold out.

Remember, you'll want to ship it to somewhere like "comgateway.com" (no sales tax in Oregon), so if you don't already have a forwarding service lined up, check this one out. They are based in Singapore, but have a warehouse in Portland, Oregon. They offer live-chat support at what appears to be SG working times, so that suits us in NZ our evenings.

N1 gets updates first, etc, and is compatible with all the major networks.

Just wondering, how much is it all up roughly in NZD?

If you don't get insurance it seems to be coming upto around $900 NZD including GST on arrival?

It's really a moot point since I'm getting an 850 one for Telecom but it's still my typical luck! It's cost me $835 so far but that doesn't yet include delivery or potential GST.

Wouldn't it be nice if the local telco's actually released a roadmap for handsets? You could hardly call it sensitive information given these handsets are all over the local market anyway from parallel importers to direct online based imports ....

I fully agree!!!

Maybe they think if they tell us when they'll come that will remove some of their "thunder" for when they're released?! ha, or even worse it will show them up more obviously as to how slow they are at bringing them to market? :P

Alas I dithered too long waiting for the exchange rate to improve and trying to organise a non CA shipping address. Oh well - it was only going to be a spare.

Don't forget all the new fees from Customs on arrival. They add about $50 to the item - exclusive of GST.

They do see it as sensitive information as phones here aren't locked to a telco....They do not want to give the competition a heads up on what's coming.

Paul Brislen at VFNZ has said this several times.
