Until Froyo arrived I synced up some priority files onto a 16GB SD card while the Desire is lounging in its cradle.

So even if the office burned down and Mozy's servers were destroyed I had my priority files in my pocket!

Since Froyo, syncing, copying backing up all fail. Error messages like "Semaphore timeout period expired" seem to indicate that there is something running on the Desire that is interrupting the transfer. Any suggestions?

Yes I have checked the SD card and it seems OK. Formatted via Desire and PC, etc. I will try the original 4 GB card but I doubt that the card is the problem. I've seen one other reference to a similar problem but no solutions.

Cheers

Mike

Hi Mike, what are you using to sync the files?

What is "Goodsync"?

I just use drag / drop - on Windows or Linux...and have no issues.

Sorry, I should have made it clearer. Until Monday I used to back up priority files from my desktop (Windows 7 64 bit) to the Desire via a USB cable using a fairly common sync program (as detailed above).

I get the same problem with the original 4GB card.

And in my ignorance I posted to the wrong topic. I meant to post under HTC Desire and Froyo!

Needless to say, I'm new to posting here!

OK. Have you had any Windows updates go on in the past few days?

USB can be a real pain.

Do you use BOINC or any other distributed processing client? Anything CPU-intensive in the background when you're supposedly "not using" the system?

I once had BOINC / climatepredition.net completely interfere with flashing a new ROM on my Acer Liquid. It was taking too many CPU cycles away from the USB operation.

May not be your issue, but worth ruling out.

It used to work but now it doesn't....something changed...and it's usually on the PC.

There was a security update late Tuesday or Wednesday but the only significant change that I'm aware of is the Android update from 2.1 to 2.2.

Nothing CPU intensive happening in the background on the PC.

If I can't fix the problem I'm just going to have to load that card up with music and apps!
