good news for android fans:

http://gizmodo.com/5611978/new-htc-phone-htc-vision-to-be-unveiled-september-15th

it seems like there will be an announcement for the desire HD on the 15th of September. This could be very interesting.

Could be a WP7 phone as well, as they mentioned.

Have been following this since first photos leaked last week

http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/07/htc-desire-hd-spotted-in-the-wild-with-evo-like-form-factor-and/

It follows the 6 month product cycle by HTC.  With a 4.3" display I guess I'll have to get a bigger pocketLaughing.

Been looking at this, i have a feeling it won't be cheap though. Im happy with my current Desire actually, i think a 4.3" screen is getting rather large.

I'm about to go into a parallel importer shop to get my hands on the Desire to see how it feels. Already handled the iPhone 4, so I can compare a little bit.

As far as I can tell HTC have a 6 month product cycle for their GSM Android 'World Phones'.  Evidenced by the release of the Hero-Legend-Desire, so the DesireHD (or Ace, etc) fits nicely into that progression and will probably be followed next (Northern Hemisphere) Spring by the next iteration which, IMO, will have the next generation snapdragon processor, a camera on both sides and Gingerbread in addition to all the goodies touted for the DesireHD.  What the display will be like (because of the retina hype) will be interesting.

I got my desire for $830NZD shipped. Somehow i dont think the Desire HD is going to be anywhere near this price.
Differences seem to be
-4gb internal memory
-8MP camera (dual flash?)
-4.3" screen.

Not that major for me tbh. If theres any software differences they will be hacked into original Desire ROM's

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it?

Interesting. I dont think it will be a WP7 Phone, seeing as the HTC Schubert has already been touted as HTC's first Windows Phone handset. I would Imagine that Microsoft would make those official announcements themselves rather than leave it to the manufacturers.

Seeing as this HTC initiated, it seems most likely to be an Android Device.

I think the Vision/Blaze will be an Android handset with a qwerty keyboard. The rumoured HTC Ace seems certain to be the HTC Desire HD which may be included in the official announcement on Sept 15 also.

We wait with eargerness!

I am deciding between the Desire and the Nokia N8.  With the HD version out, most likely I will be swayed towards HTC.

How quickly are HTC phones released into the wild for purchase after its announced?  Thanks.

The information in this article seems to be the most reliable indication of what will be announced

No worries. The spec for the Desire is the target for Android v3.0....and that won't be out for 4-5 months....and will run happily for 6 months after that.....

The Desire and Nexus One are good for a year - easy.

But after that....what will Google's next developer reference phone be? So far it's been:

ADP1 = HTC G1/Dream
ADP2 = HTC G2/Magic
ADP3 = Google Nexus One
ADP4 = ???? and I will want one.
