Hi folks,

I swear I read somewhere there's a music app that can search for a title from an audio snippet of music. Am I remembering incorrectly? or does such an app actually exist? I think it can even work when you point the phone's microphone at the speaker...

You can get the free Shazam, but i think they only allow 5 'listens" per month now. To use it more, you have to get "Shazam Encore".

Either way, Shazam only finds things that are studio recordings. The sound footprints have to match exactly.

There is another app, "Soundhound" (formerly 'Midomi Soundhound') that can do what Shazam does, but it can also identify songs if you hum a few bars. Soundhound is the better app in many ways.

I have both. One tends to be able to find things the other can't. They complement each other nicely.
