As seen on Motorola Owner's Forum:

"MILESTONE (Asia-Pacific) Upgrade to Android 2.2 under evaluation "

Other models, regions listed in that page.

It's hard to feel compelled to purchase any device that isn't upgrade friendly on the android platform. Why does it matter what part of the world gets a new version? Seriously, what reason do they have for this!

I am looking at getting one of these handsets, when is telecom going to start selling them ?, still on the website as 'coming soon'

But - if you can't upgrade it to 2.2, is it worth it?

Language compatibility.

They don't support all languages on every phone. Many phone makers are like this. You see it in Acer, HTC and others. There will usually be

US
EU
ME-A
AP

....and any Arabs in the US or Chinese in Germany will probably have to parallel import a version from the region that supports their language.

Looks promising. I got a Milestone from Expansys (so it's a UK one), and they mention that they're looking at pushing 2.2 out to them in Q4.

Seems a bit silly that the Canadian build for the Milestone is still under evaluation. I'm sure Canadians spell a few words differently, but is it really that hard?
