I'm running (at the moment) a copy of Pinky's ROM on a rooted Desire. So I was quite surprised when I got notified this update was available for download:

ota_bravo_htc_eu_2.10.405.2-2.09.405.8_release567cypyi0feo4th5.zip  25MB

Anyone know anything about it? And no, I wasn't stupid enough to download and install an unknown update from HTC onto a rooted and non-standard Desire. The Least that would likely happen is having to reinstall my OS; the worst is a locked and bricked unusable device.

It's too small for a new version of the official HTC set up - but it might be a substantial update...

So, anyone else got this? Know anything about it? Too new for google...

I just applied this update yesterday, it's a small fix to update to the new version of gmail and also apparently better russian keyboard support (afaik).

You need 25mb internal space free to install it.

I'm running an unrooted phone though.

I had heard about the update about a week or so ago but I had to do a manual check to actually see it.

Yup - it came out last week or some such. There are a few ROMs that have incorporated this, or the 2.14 one. They're both much the same except one is targeted for different region I think - don't quote me on that. I know LeeDroid and DJDroid (which I use) have this update. I think the Neophyte one (Aura-something-or-other) also has it. MoDaCo is a bit slow and still have not incorporate this into either r8 or r9 as far as I know...which is a pity...

There may be others of course - just trawl through the HTC Desire forum at XDA. And yes, this update will unroot your phone. In fact, I accidentally applied this update and mine wouldn't boot at all! Ended up restoring backed up ROM from recovery.

Thanks, much as I thought. I wish HTC would quit trying to unroot out phones - what difference does it make to them?!? Bloody market droids...

Anyway, thanks.
