Just noticed that VFNZ are now offering the Vodafone 845 on their web site

Free on a contract or $399 full price.

It's a re-badged Huawei with a respectable feature set for the price. Android v2.1, based on the screenshots in the user guide.

3.2" screen. (Effectively) a worthy successor to the HTC Magic class of phone at what looks like a great price.

If this goes up to 2.2 in the next month, then I'll be selling the wifes Spica and upgrading her to this, so she can have a nicer looking phone to go with my Galaxy S

Wicked, just found more specs, it's the i5800! Galaxy 3

The copy on the VF site for the Galaxy580 seems out of proof, in the technical specs it states GSM bands only, but in the overview and in other places it states 3G including 900MHz extended.

The resolution on the i5800 is pretty poor, 240x400

Didn't see that, lower res than the i5700 damnit, but it's thinner and lighter, touch choice

Yeah I'm happy with my Galaxy S still, have you managed to fix your battery life issue?

The batteries between my wifes 5700 and my galaxy s are interchangeable too :)

Although if a white Galaxy S comes out, I think I'll upgrade her to it to match mine

Been keeping and eye on Modaco and have spotted the Orange San Fransico aka ZTE Blade.  Apart from the cheesy name, for 99pounds (+ 10pounds min top up) you get:

  • Android 2.1 Eclair

  • Qualcomm MSM7227 600MHz processor

  • 512MB RAM

  • UMTS 900/2100 MHz

  • GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz

  • HSDPA (3G+)

  • 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus

  • 3.5" WVGA (800x480) OLED capacative touchscreen

  • WiFi 802.11 b/g

  • Bluetooth

  • FM radio

  • GPS

  • Accelerometer

  • Digital compass

  • Light sensor

  • Proximity sensor

The review at Modaco is very promising, for that price it seems amazing.  It's locked to the Orange network but there is a cheap unlock (4pounds or so) available.  Good thing a trip to the UK is on the cards for later this year!!! Wink

I wonder if it will ever come this way.  Probably unlikely!
