It seems you are trying to hotlink pictures and their server doesn't like it (which is very understandable)...

Hi freitasm, is what I posted in breach of the T & C of the forum?

No. It seems you don't understand the Internet... "Hotlinking" is the term for when someone uses an image hosted on someone else's server.

It's not good Internet practice because in reality the page shows images that are being served from someone else's account - and costing money to this other provider.

What happens then is that some content providers put in place Hotlink Blockers that will detect when an image is being used in another domain and instead serve something - sometimes a warning, sometimes something rude.

So, it's not against our T&C, but you are using their hosted images so they do whatever they want with their traffic.

Got it now? That's why the pictures you posted are showing nothing like the images you actually wanted to show.

I see, so would I be best to just save the images in the future and paste them rather than using the URL link to the images?

Not "paste". You have to upload the images to a server (either using your Geekzone acount here or somewhere else).

But you also have to see if you have the rights to use the images. Just because it's on the Internet it doesn't mean they don't have copyright.

Thanks for the advice, and sorry for the ignorance, I don't post on forums very often.

When create a post, there is an "upload images" link under the edit window. You then use the link Geekzone creates after the upload - should be obvious - to do a pic link in your post.

If you don't want to just grab their file and upload it, you can take a photo of it on your screen - and up load your photo. Sounds dumb, but your photo is your image of something in your house on your computer screen. Your claim for fair use is thus much more credible. Especially if you are just sharing information and not seeking to profit from it.

Generally speaking, you're safe if you aren't profiting and your use is purely for informational / discussion purposes. But making your own image adds that extra level of 'care'.
