I could look this up, but want to share the answer here. 

I have a Samsung Galaxy S 16GB. By default, it has 2GB of internal app storage.

Is that also true of the 8GB model?

To be more accurate it would be 1.8 GB. That's because 1.8 Gb is actually 225 megabytes.

There's a 8x difference between gigabits (Gb) and gigabytes (GB).
