I've got a Samsung Galaxy S I9000. I've been really happy with it then I turned it on and it froze on the start up sequence when it gets to the S Logo.
What ever it try all it does is boot up and do the startup sequence and freeze on the S logo when there are still a few blocks forming the S or once it has turn white.

I've tried turning it off but it won't the only thing it will do is restart if I hold down the power button.
I've also tried doing a hard reset to do a factory restore but no menu comes up, just the usual startup sequence and freeze at the logo.

The hard Reset is described on the following website
http://www.hard-reset.com/samsung-i9000-galaxy-s-hard-reset.html
all the other instructions I could find on how to hard reset a Galaxy S where exactly the same.

Can anyone please help me on how to get my phone to work.

Thanks

Have you tried taking the battery out? I have no idea if that will make a difference but might be worth a try. Is your phone still a stock standard phone or have you applied any modifications or new firmware? Is there anything that might have changed the behaviour?

I have not changed the firmware on the phone, the firmware is android 2.1 (eclair). The only modifications I've done recently is install ADW.Launcher, I did that about two days before the phone started to freeze.
I left the battery out of the phone for the whole day after it started to freeze but it did not help.
Taking out the battery is also part of the hard reset because it could not be turned off.

Perhaps another dumb suggestion, does your battery have enough charge? Have you checked out XDA Developers website to see if someone else has had a similar problem? Can you take it back to the store and get them to look at it or try another battery?

Yes i've recharged my battery.

I've googled my problem but I could not find someone whose phone froze on startup.

I havn't got around to asking on any other forums yet.

It sounds like you have one of the phones that has the three-button recovery and download modes disabled, where did it come from? Without those there is not much you can do to try to fix the phone, it will have to go back to the dealer.

I've just looked at those instructions.  It's not quite the way we do the 3 button recovery.  Have you tried holding down (all together!) the volume UP, home and power buttons?

I was doing a search for the type of problem you've got, someone mentioned that after 30 minutes the phone kicked into life.  Did you leave the battery in when you left it alone overnight?

I was looking at then 2nd last entry on this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-756664.html

Maybe it'll help, what harm can it do to try this person's sequence.

For most devices the combination is VolumeUp+Home+Power to get to recovery mode. Try that as well as VolumeDown+Home+Power and see what happens.

if you do the 3 button trick you have to hold down for quite a long time and release when you get the 2nd flash of the logo. It's about 5-10 seconds from memory
