I see there is heaps of info on GeekZone RE flashing a HTC Desire A8183 with Froyo but I am still stuggling to find exactly what I am after and don't want to risk making a paper weight. I am keen on not rooting my phone just yet and have created a GoldCard. Is anyone able to advise:

  1. Best radio ROM to use for XT. Want to ensure will be 850/2100

  2. Best compatible HTC vanilla Froyo ROM. Want to get rid of all the Telstra stuff

  3. Best steps on how to do it without rooting.

I am currently on the Telstra 2.1 ROM
Thanks in advance.

A.

AFAIK You cant have custom ROMS without rooting it.

Also it's the chip that allows you to use telecoms band, (850/2100) not the ROM. Rooting for the Desire is super easy, I've done it on my A8183.
