The very rare and elusive Harvey Norman "helpful salesman" saw i was using an N1 while i was shopping for TV's and recommended i look at the app "LCD Density" He showed me his HD2 with it and it looked worth the effort.

I don't know specifics but it's added quite a bit of real estate to play with which is nice. Icons are all a little smaller though so if you have trouble reading small fonts it's not for you.

Check it out, i'm finding it helpful.

I wish there was something to do that on PCs to make up for the sad state that is LCDs on computers these days.

I bought the app then noticed the vague "need root" at the top of the app description. Luckily I managed to cancel the download a get a refund bfore it completed.
[all$1.39 or whatever]

Shame as it looked quite good and I am prefer smaller icons on everything.

There is a free version too but it needs root too and isn't permanent after reboot.
