Hey all,

So I decided to try and upgrade to Froyo after i couldn't get the Kries reg. trick to work.

I was using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108 website to upgrade the kernal? to enable "2e" recovery, apparently what I needed to do to be able to do the firmware upgrade listed on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813954.

So anyway I obvioiusly missed a big chunk of information on the basics, and basically I put the phone in download mode "Down volume, home, power" then I opened Odin and chose the .tar file I downloaded from the first link, and hit start. After this the phone just sits at the Galaxy start screen white letters saying "Galaxy S GT0I9000 Samsung"

It just sits there won't go any further. So obviously I've flashed it with the wrong firmware (kernal).

I can still go into download mode, so I'm guessing there is a way to fix this I'm just not sure how >.<.

I've gone into reset mode and hit reset to factory but that obviously doesn't help as it resets it to the last flashed firmware which was bad.

The phone was brought from www.clove.co.uk the details I have from the phone in kries regedit were:

GT-I9000HKDXEU
I9000XXJM1/I9000OXAJM1/I9000XXJM1/I9000XXJM1

Does anyone know what files I can use in Odin and the phone's Download mode to restore it so I can at least turn it on?

Any help greatly appreciated!!!

If you can get into download then you can flash again, flash another firmware on there, with the correct PDA/CSC/Tar files in the right place and you should be good to go.

Cheers, yea that's what I thinking. Problem is finding where to get the correct PDA / CSC/ Tar that corresponds to my Europe version of the galaxy.

The XX prefix is the Europe one, so a Europe Froyo firmware should be fine.

Yea, sorry I gave up that night haha.

Found a early 2.2 froyo .zip with all the right files upgraded perfectly :) Then went back to the original guide and upgraded straight to the released Froyo with no problems.

Yea definitely a huge improvement. Although I haven't installed most apps again but it just feels way more responsive.

Also used the GPS on bus going to Otara yesterday haha, and it worked real good, minus one time it jumped and had the bus driving through the middle of houses but was accurate otherwise.

Mine is Froyo JP6.

The Galaxy S is a puzzling phone. Sometimes it lags so bad you think it's dead....then other times it works really well.

The phone's feature set and attributes are awesome....but its behaviour can be very annoying.

My Nexus One was *much* smoother in operation.....but missing a lot of features that made the Galaxy S attractive.
I want a phone that runs like the Nexus One with the attributes/features of the Galaxy S.

@Linuxluver: Does it lag particularly for you when its had a fair amount of uptime? Like more than a day? Thats when I've found it bad prior to my current firmware. Once Voodoo starts to get near-final I'll install that on my GS, should be lovely and smooth then.
