We got burgled overnight and my Nexus One was stolen along with my wife's x10i... not a great day.

I can't live long without a phone so I need to organise replacements today.

Any comments on the best one to get... the insurance company say I have to get it from JB-HiFi so can only be ones they can supply.

It must be Vodafone (I'm on contract) and I'll stick with Android so no need for any other OS suggestions.

Although I never got around to getting them I see the car dock and desktop dock as major attractions for getting another Nexus One.

As for the x10i, my wife liked timescape with the twitter and facebook integration and 2.1 was released in the weekend... was a nice phone but wondered about moving her to the Galaxy S as SE are slow with OS updates, otherwise the hardware and skin were nice.

Any comments, thoughts or suggestions appreciated... especially if you have experience with two or more of these phones.

Cheers.

Sorry to hear about your break in and can't comment on either phone.

Can I ask why you have to get it from JB-HiFi? I ask as my HTC Desire is insured on my contents and am now worried that if lost or stolen I will be forced to get a replacement from a high street shop and if I was going to replace it, I would get the HD.

I don't have much experience with insurers as I have never made a claim on anything so I am not sure how this process works. Do you have to get a replacement cost quote from a supplier on an approved list?

We are with AA insurance and they said that they replace old for new, like for like. They told me the replacement would be supplied by Noel Leeming or JB-HiFi, but I could get something else from the same supplier if I chose to.

If it is cheaper that's my choice but no credit or cash payment, if it is dearer I pay the difference. It all sounds reasonable to me. If I had a phone that these guys didn't supply I'm not sure what they would say.

Perhaps you should contact your insurance company to clarify?

One vote for Galaxy S, probably the best Android phone you can buy from a retail store in NZ

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

Thanks for the responses, I went for the Galaxy S. Now to see if there is a an elegant car dock solution like the nexus car dock.

I stuck with the X10i for my wife , I would have had to pay to upgrade to the other phones and it does everything she wants and more. As I may of mentioned earlier, the X10i hardware is if anything superior to the other phones, and hopefully 2.1 will be an improvement on the software side. She is not in need of the latest OS at all times.
