Hi,
got one last week from Telecom and have had to send it back for checking or repair.

I love the phone but the phone function locks up with no indication of it being locked up. So no calls or texts come through, the fault shows up once I try to call or text. Rebooting fixes the lockup but it happens up to 6 times a day.
Anyone else having the problem?
Apparently I'm not the only person sending them back in, needless to say I'm annoyed at the hassel and not having my expensive device to use.

Cheers

Don't think I've ever had my Galaxy S lockup. Mine is not a Telecom one though.

I have the AT&T Captivate version (which is also 850MHz).

I've very rarely had lock-ups, but I've always put that down to running too many conflicting apps at the same time.  Certainly nothing like the problems you've been having - mostly it's a fantastic phone.

Had mine for three weeks now (got one the day it came out).  Absolutely no issues with it to date - apart from the well-documented one (for some) of a complete inability to sync via Kies.  Will only be an issue for me if I need it for update to Froyo as I sync everything via Exchange, which works perfectly.  No problems with any random behaviour such as call locking.

Would be interested to know what other "issues" might be causing people to send them back.

Call quality was an issue but its the lock ups that are reason they are going back in, that is according to the salesperson.
No other Aps were running and the lock ups averaged around 3 times a day.
The kies sync problem happened to me but was sorted by always using the usb port used during setup. I did also reinstall the usb driver as well.

Cheers

Interesting to read this as I have not seen any of these issues on Vodafone with Galaxy S. I did have the well-documented "lag" problem...and the Once Click Lag Fix (OCLF), free in the Android Market, fixed that completely.

As for call quality, my boss got a Galaxy S for himself and his wife - both on Vodafone - and the found the call quality to be excellent.....sufficiently so that he felt the need to mention it to me.

Is this the reason, they're suddenly "out of stock"? . Saw that on the website, and wondered if it's just a coincidence.

The store has replaced my phone and so far there have been no lock ups or complaints about call quality.
I do like the phone and hope the problems have gone away. I decided to support Samsung and in this case Telecom because of the tight contraints with Iphone and having to install Itunes.
I am a bit reluctant to use the Kies sync application however as my previous phone started its downward path after using it to sync the phone.

You don't need to use Kies to sync with a PC. There is an app for syncing over wifi you can find it here: http://global.mobileaction.com/download/android.jsp

For those who have a Telecom Galaxy S. I'm after a clean rom from one to flash to my phone, I killed my one with a software mod.
