Thinking about buying Screen protector and probably case for my new milestone.

I think the SP is necessary if I want my phone last a couple of year relative scratch free. I used to have
a PDA with cover, still end up buying a SP.

How about a case for a mobile with keyboard and relative thick. Every phone I owned have hit the floor a couple of times during their life time, not sure how much chance my milestone will survive. Or all this cases in general are not much useful in practical?

Most new mobiles have scratch resistant screens. I wouldn't use a protector cause it just reduces the sensitivity of the screen a bit and I find it annoying.

Maybe it's your screen protector but I would say the opposite to be true, both me an my GF have SPs on our phones, a Desire and Wildfire...we both have 1 deepish scratch in each of our protectors that would have been at least shallow scratches in the actual screens if we hadn't had them on.

Also I have experienced no perceivable reduction in screen sensitivity through the SP everything works at the lightest touch. Again, this maybe your choice of screen protector causing your own sensitivity issues.
We got one SP from from Eking free with the Wildfire and one I got with a case I bought on Ebay they are both very smooth and I cannot easily tell that its on there as I managed to get it on without any annoying dust or bubbles under it.
I understand some SPs have slightly rough slide resistant surfaces and some are not 100% transparent.

I would advise finding a good SP rather than deciding to go commando.
One scratch avoided and you will be glad you had one.

Interesting reading for Moto Milestone.

Seems it's using "Gorilla Glass", but later in the same post, people still complain theirs broken/scratch for no apparent cause.

Just had a look at my colleague's iPhone. It is really hard to find out that it actually has a SP and I've never notice that phone is always inside a silicon case.

That's exactly what I was saying. if you put it on carefully in a dust free environment so you don't get any bubbles or dust under it, you can make it pretty much invisible and it should feel no different to using the screen without one. Just make sure you get one with a high gloss surface. oh and put it on the right way up. I wonder if those people who say thiers is slightly grippy, just have then on inside out. Laughing

Ask your colleague if he notices any difference touch/sensitivity-wise.

Just got a cheap Momax SP from Trademe and found out it is much easier to apply than what I used for my PDA screen five years ago, I got only a tiny bubble sort of thing at the edge of my SP and it is only my first try. Really happy about it.
