Nexus S has been announced, coming this xmas!   Seems pretty much same as Galaxy S except for the NFC chip and a LED flash.

Big plus for me is the untouched ROM. That crappy TouchWiz is what puts me off the Galaxy S.

I really feel that the nexus S is now the bastard younger brother of the nexus family.

You know the brother that just slides by on the family name.

The nexus S could have been so much more but its just a galaxy with a new flash a NFC chip. it doesn't even have a SD card slot.

I'm guessing they will do what they did for the Tab and add more RAM. Also the UK unlocked price is UKP549, a lot more than the Galaxy S.

Anyone running a sweep-stake that you can't buy it here in NZ, US only??

You would think that they would have learned from the last one "Tri-band HSPA: 900, 2100, 1700"

Won't that be a surprise...

According to the tech specs, it's a 900/1700/2100 device.

It has the same specs as the nexus 1, ram is the same, CPU same speed.

I replaced Touchwiz with ADW.Launcher immediately. I'd played with TouchWiz on a mate's SG-S....and didn't like it.

But launchers on Android can be changed easily.

It takes about 1 minute to do. If you stop for coffee. :-)

The contoured screen sounds interesting. Slightly curved?  That could feel very nice.

If the thing needs a lag-fix it will be a laughing stock.

No external sdcards?

If that's true, this phone is not on the menu.

It has no trackball or similar..

I use my trackball all the time to correct words without retyping them on my nexus one.

It would of been nice if the Nexus series stuck to this idea.

The iPad needs one too...

Why so expensive too, as has been pointed out it's 549 pounds which is about 200 more than Galaxy S.............for what?

I've found that with a 4" screen (SG-S) the tip of my finger is small enough relative to the screen to largely  remove the need for a trackball. The Samsung Galaxy S also comes with a sort of text clipboard/ selector app.....that further reduces the need for a trackball.

But on my Nexus One I love my trackball.
