So I finally bit the bullet and bought one of these. The reason being I want to install it in my car and use the audio out into my headunit.

A couple of things Im not that pleased with though to be honest.

1. As a desktop dock its great, nicely weighted base with no-slip rubber but Im not so sure it will hold the phone when Im driving. This should come as no surprise as it wasnt designed for a car but it really does just 'sit' on the pins in the dock rather than needing to be pushed in.

2. The notes say its not to be plugged into a computer via usb. Im assuming this is because a computers usb will not provide the power required by the docking station but Im assuming I will be ok using a usb adapter in the car.

3. The main reason for buying it is the audio out. I currently have a cheapy docking station which holds the phone nicely and is powered from the ciggie lighter usb adapter but I have to plug the 3.5mm to rca into the phone myself. Im getting a little tired of plugging it in and out all the time so audio out sounds great.

Sadly it appears to transfer to music from the phone to the dock via bluetooth which means the audio quality is awful.

Now Ive never used bluetooth for audio so is this to be expected ? The sound overall is quieter, there is sod all bass and it just sounds 'tinny'. Going back to the 3.5 jack on the phone is like night and day.

So have I just bought something which is going to end up sitting on my desk and sticking with the cheapy in the car ?
