PriceSpy Android Application

While visiting a store, have you ever wanted to know what other people think of the product, or if it can be found at a better price nearby or on-line? We've got a solution for that: the PriceSpy Android app.

For those of you who have a smartphone with Android OS it is now possible to download the PriceSpy application which turns your phone into a shopping tool with features like:

  • Check the best prices for a product.

  • Check PriceSpy user reviews for a product.

  • See stores selling a certain product laid out on Google maps.

  • Get directions to stores selling a product.

Imagine this situation:
You are in a store. All of a sudden you find a product you didn't know you needed, and you have an urge to buy it. Then you think "hang on a minute, I'd better check with PriceSpy first", and you pick up your phone, start the PriceSpy app, type the name of the product to find out one or more of the following:

  • Other users have rated it and think it's no good.

  • Other users have rated it and think it's terrific.

  • The price is among the lowest in the country, and certainly low enough for you to buy the product right now.

  • The same product can be bought at a better price in a store just around the corner.

  • The same product can be ordered online at a better price.

Which ever scenario, you will have a lot more knowledge. And your shopping will be based on facts and figures, hopingly...

The application also includes a bar code scanner functionality, but at the moment we haven't got enough up-to-date data for it to be completely reliable. We are working on gathering more bar codes.

Download the application from Android Market search for PriceSpy or scan this bar code:

TBH I usually research online before I buy product and most often just buy online via a reputable store.

I guess that app may have use in some rare situations but not most of the time for me.

The UI seems fairly clean though which good (a big contrast to their website which imo is awful).

I use pricespy & priceme to list all the cheapest stores and then buy from the cheapest reputable store, i like to buy from dragon pc (local shop), paradigm pcs, ascent, computer longue or from the major retailers. Havn't purchased anything from playtech too, but I would buy from them too. This would be useful if i wanted to buy something, but didn't have access to the PC at the time. I would use it too check the retail price was reasonable.

http://gearbot.co.nz/ is pretty good too, it's in the style original pricespy was.

yup, i used to use gearbot when the new pricespy first came out, but now i forget to use it because i often forget the website name. I think pricespy is a lot better now, but it is quite good how gearbot can lump all the prices of multiple similar products together

The Pricespy app has been around for over a month, I've had for ages. Seeing plenty of updates in that time adding functionality, so well supported to date too.

Same here. Have been using the app for about a month.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

I've mentioned it a couple of times here in the past, figured at a place like Geekzone I'd hardly be the only Pricespy user!
