Hey there, I'm new to these forums and have been waiting out for an update for my Galaxy S(Telecom) ever since I've had it checking on Kies regularly. I saw in other threads some people have it but is it officially out for the Telecom version yet? Can someone confirm this for me?The latest check shows that apparently I already have the latest firmware version, I am running the latest Kies aswell. I had my phone updated on the 24th of December, got all excited expecting froyo :), but realised it was just a 2.1 update. So if someone could tell me if they have it officially and whether it is out that would be great.

Thanks in advance

It seems it is officially out, however kies being the unreliable piece of garbage it is, isnt responding to updates correctly sometimes.

Many Telecom Galaxy S users have gained the Telecom Froyo version via a registry hack. See here for muzzholt's reply:

So I download the binary and the phone does its thing, restarts etc and its still on 2.1. So I connect it to kies again and now there's another update so we'll see this time. Second time lucky

I realized that update JL1 is still 2.1 and probably isn't worth updating(This is with the 1.7 Kies reg patcher with kies patched to TNZ(Telecom NZ). So I turn the patcher off(to false) and I try to update it but then It says I already have JL1 installed and there are no other updates. So I'm a little confused here. I saw someone else with the same problem but couldn't find an answer. So any help is appreciated.I'm pretty sure JP1 is 2.2, am I correct?

UPDATE: I found that when patching I didn't set my firmware version to JL1 therefore it was just updating the same firmware on to the phone, so this means there is no update unless someone knows how to get it

correct, i saw my post asking muzzholt to confirm his baseband and he verified it is JP1.

Im stumped too. I recommend asking your question in the Samsung Galaxy main thread, lots of users have that thread on review so any updates there will be seen by many users. I really recommend that.

Leave it for now and see if a reply is forthcoming from there as most of the Telecom Galaxy S users will only be watching that thread.

Seems like forever since I did mine!  The revised versions after the update using that method should be: Baseband version "I9000TDOJP1"; Build Number "FROYO.DOJP2"; Kernel version "2.6.32.9 root@SE-S604 #5".  At least that's what I have on mine.  As a matter of interest, I found thast even after I updated using this method, it still said I had an update available vis Kies.  I simply ignored it - and haven't bothered even expoloring why it is - I was just happy to have been running on 2.2!

Haven't really seen anyone else updating via this method recently on a Telecom Galaxy so not sure if anything has changed recently.  Can only say that it worked fine for me with no hitches at all when I did it.
