Hi,

I'm looking for suggestions for an Android phone.  One of the guys in my team at work has developed an Android application that we would like to field test, and therefore need some hardware to run it on.

Basic requirements include:

1.  Must have BlueTooth, as the application needs this for communication with external devices

2.  Good bright display, as will mainly be used outside in the field (literally)

3.  V2.2 of the OS or later

4.  Can be purchased for a reasonable cost without a plan (we have 100s of phone and data connections already and would like to be able to move the phone around various users)

Nice to have:

5.  Operates on Vodafone 3G AND Telecom XT, to facilitate #4 above, as we have users on both networks

Any suggestions most appreciated.

Agree with that, alternatively an Ideos with a custom ROM to bring it up to 2.2

Does the Ideos not ship with 2.2? All the advertising I've seen for it says it has 2.2.

Not sure if you are still looking but I currently use the Dell Streak as my Personal / Work phone, it has a 5" screen, 1GHz Processor, Originally shipped with 1.6 now has 2.2 and should go all the way to 3.0 (hopefully), is unlocked (here in Perth, WA) currently use it on Vodafone. Has a cross multi use - Smartphone / Tablet.

Not the cheapest but has a huge range of uses, I currently use the Streak to -

> Access my works exchange email using Moxier Mail (Paid App)
> Access / Open / edit Excel, Word Docs, PDF files & PowerPoint with Docs to Go
> Online Repair Managment System
> Intranet
> Phone of course
> SMS again a given
> Calender syned to exchange
> Navigation (both Google Naviagation Beta, Sygic Mobile Maps has both Australian and New Zealand Maps)
> Twitter - Keep in contact with Geek, Tech Sites etc
> BloggerDroid - Posting to my Blog

And also personal apps like games - Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja etc

Good luck mate, happy hunting

Jace
