Like my iPod Touch, I'm after a device with Android but no phone (I have two of those already, N8 & Trophy) as I would like to familiarise myself with the Android platform and just use WiFi for connectivity.

I believe they're called tablets these days :)
There's lots of cheap chinese tablets running 1.x/2.1 (maybe), you can get them from TM or dealextreme.

There are the newer tablets coming out now that are 2.x which are more expensive. The only tablet i've seen in a store that isn't a cheap chinese one is the samsung galaxy tab, which is way overpriced here.

I saw a Galaxy Tab listed on Pricespy (very expensive) but it listed 3G in it's specifications, is there one that does not have a phone feature. Searching on Tablets returns all sorts of devices, including Windows, which I'm not interested in. Ideally an Android device that is around iPod Touch size.

I don't think you'll find an android "tablet" the size of an ipod touch. You'll have to buy a phone. You can just use it without a SIM though. I don't have a SIM in my vodafone 845 atm, data works fine over wifi.

That does indeed fit the bill, no prices on PriceSpy, may have to get it from US perhaps? Main reason for seeking a phoneless device is to save some $$$

was introduced and sold last year in europe only I think however they did officially show it off this year at CES so prob will make it's way through to US or even NZ this year.

Check out http://www.archos.com for a few small android tablets. Most are resistive screens I think and also they haven't made it to New Zealand yet....

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Have you checked all the devices on the likes of Dealextreme, Pandawill etc? There are numerous Andoid devices that you can get for sub NZ$150 landed, obviously the price starts to go up depending on the features you want.

Yep +1, I second that. I would wait for this puppy if I was you, or order from the States once it goes live...

Thanks guys, is there a "Remote" application in Android like the iOS one? Does the Samsung Galaxy Player support Flash?

yes there are several remote applications. yes the galaxy should probably support flash, but if you use google you could probably check that the cpu is flash compliant
