Has anybody seen a good 2.3 ROM for the HTC Desire? I've been looking around a bit and there don't seem to be any that are stable enough to use!

Actually, while I'm at it; I've just noticed something strange..

I've got Superuser app on my phone so I'm assuming it's rooted (I rooted it ages ago when I put Cyanogenmod on and then I reverted back to SenseUI).

I've installed ROM Manager, but when I boot into Fastboot by holding the back button & power, and then go into Recovery, I get the phone and ! symbol... I can reboot the phone by pressing volume up & power and then selecting Reboot system now.

But this seems really weird. I've installed the ClockWorkMod Recovery via ROM Manager, and it says it's installed so where is it? O_o

Try GingerVillian. I'm running it at the moment and it's very very good.

I flashed my Desire in december after getting frustrated at always running out of application memory space and went to DeFrost 6.1a. This was pretty good but I had continual problems with the Market force closing. Since GingerVillian went to 0.6 people have been commenting on how stable etc it is. It's now at 0.8 and I'm very happy with it.

Battery life is excellent, speed is great, and rom is very stable. If you're coming from SenseUI you may want to add a new launcher like LauncherPro Plus. The widgets are similar to those in senseui and you have a lot more control over screen layout etc.

You can get GingerVillian from XDADevelopers

Good Luck!

Thanks for that Spinynorman!

I've actually gone a step further and installed MIUI-AU (www.miui-au.com); running the stable 1.1.14 R1 release ^_^

This ROM is *gorgeous* and really really fast!!!

That ROM looks interesting. Is it Android 2.3 though?

Nah it's not, it's only 2.2. But I believe a 2.3 version is in the works :)

It's *really* nice to use; but I'm wondering how to tell if apps2sd is actually working or not!

I don't like MIUI, looks too iphone like.

I'm using Oxygen 2.0, super clean and super fast, AdamG did an amazing job with OpenDesire and this ones even better.

ooh Oxygen2.0 RC6 looks pretty damned good!
I know what you mean about MIUI; but I quite like the themes that you can install on it :)

I might give Oxygen2.0 a go

Well I just installed Oxygen2.0 RC6 and it was a *really* quick boot! Most impressed.

Gotta say, Gingerbread looks pretty rad =D
