Hi, posted on the Vodafone forum last week regarding my HTC issue but got no luck getting any results

I have an HTC Desire Z I bought in Hong Kong last month and a Samsung i5510 from Germany last month (for my partner), I have searched on my problem quite a bit through google but it doesn't help that there's naff all people with the i5510 and desire z's

I have set up both phones with the APNs for data and mms using values from here crosschecked with vodafone. I put the exact same settings into both phones, now, on my HTC the MMS is working but the data is not and on the Samsung the mobile data is working but the MMS is not

Both my partner and I are able to send and recieve MMS on our nokia phones so it's not a sim/account issue. I have no idea why her Samsung is not handling MMS whilst she can use the mobile data APN so if anyone has any inkling as to why the MMS isn't working please help (i'll post settings below). She can't send MMS, even to herself, and if she receives an MMS from me she gets the text but no attachments.

With my HTC I was able to use mobile data before with my previous nokia and when I send a MMS I get the HSDPA symbol showing there's no issues with my phones network access, I have checked and it's the correct frequencies for Vodafone, and I have also checked that WDCMA is set and preferred - but I know this works as MMS working right?

One thing I just noticed though is the APN in my previous Nokia 6700 phone was set up with web.vodafone.de as the data APN (I bought it a 2 years ago whilist in Germany) so is it possible that Vodafone is blocking my data or have I got something wrong? (details below).

I have been charged for using data with the previous phone downloading for the nokia maps.

These are the settings in both phones:

Name: Vodafone NZ
APN: www.vodafone.net.nz
Proxy:
Port:
Username:
Password:
Server:
MMSC:
MMS Proxy:
MMS Port:
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 530
MNC: 01
Auth Type: None
APN Type: default, supl

Name: Vodafone MMS
APN: live.vodafone.com
Proxy:
Port:
Username:
Password:
Server:
MMSC: http://pxt.vodafone.net.nz/pxtsend
MMS Proxy: 172.30.38.3
MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 530
MNC: 01
Auth Type: None
APN Type: mms

Any help appreciated.

Can you please give a little more clarity about what you're saying, ie, APN=...

So just create a new APN, call it internet or whatever you want and then for the APN address just put internet

Nowhere have I seen this but I tried it and it doesn't work, tried a plethora of differing ways but always the "connection failed due to incorrect APN setting"

http://www.nzconnections.net.nz/Vodafone_NZ_APN_settings shows internet as a valid APN and I have had it working on both Vodafone and 2Degrees.

I just compared your apn settings to what I have working successfully for VF data on my Desire HD. In the last line you have ", supl" in addition to default, I don't have that. Perhaps a GZer who knows about these things could explain what it's for.

Sent from my HTC Desire HD using SlideIT.

Thanks for that link, clarifies that, doesn't say what the MCC/MNC values are but assuming they're always the same 530/1 then no dice :(

As for the "supl", I have tried it with and without but it makes no difference, and, like I said the exact same settings are working fine in the samsung phone which makes me wonder if I am missing some major point somewhere.

Do I have to ring vodafone to confirm I have data access?

Try swapping the sims between the phones and see what happens

I have a Desire Z on Vodafone. My APN's are the same as yours except for the "supl". I have "default" only under APN type.

Okay, so using my partners sim in my Desire the mobile data works so I guess that means data has been blocked on my account??? She can also send and receive mms on it whilst I can't with my sim in her phone so there's an issue with the mms on that phone.
