Hi, I have a VodaFone 845 with which I can connect my Desktop to the the Internet with a USB connection but I want to do this via my WiFi connection but my computer won't discover my phone even though it is set to Always discoverable, How do I do this?

I think you're mixing up wifi and bluetooth?

Your computer needs to have a bluetooth adaptor, before it will see your phone over bluetooth.

If you have a wifi router/access point, connect your phone to that. (Over wifi)

I'm certain I'm mixed up, I have been able to connect with Bluetooth on my Motorola Phone but for some reason I can't with my VodaFone 845, Even If I could I assume a WiFi connection would be Faster (My VodaFone has definitely got WiFi built in an I can access the Net on my Phone by connecting to my home Router rather than using 3g. Thanks for trying to help, I hope some one can. I guess I'm trying to use my Cell Phone as a Router and Modem for my Laptop. I'll try to explain I want to use the WiFi connection on my Laptop to connect to my Cell Phone's WiFi then my Phone to act as a Modem to connect to the Internet if that is possible.

Ah! You want to use your phone as a wifi hotspot? (Be warned this will chew through battery like crazy)
The version of android that ships with the 845 doesn't have it built in, but you can download apps to do it, except I believe you have to have rooted your phone first.
See http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/04/15/rooting-explained-top-5-benefits-of-rooting-your-android-pho.../

Have you gotten it to work via USB?

Wow thanks for your help but upon looking at the limited info I have found it seems to risky for me and I don't wont a $200 paper weight. I'll try to find an app that doesn't require me rooting my Phone (incidentally I thought you were having me on then as root has a crude meaning here in New Zealand).

Hah, sorry. Root has different meanings in IT/phone stuff.

The 845 is an OK phone for the price.. But rooting/installing a custom ROM isn't too hard. Might void the warrenty though :)

Otherwise i'd suggest just plugging it in via USB and doing it that wa.
