Can anyone recommend a tablet that is running Android? Would be mostly used for games like Angry Birds & Fruit Ninja. I'm looking for something Android 2.0+, and costs under $200, preferably $150ish. I have had a look at the tablets on dealextreme, does anyone know what they are like in terms of build quality, and what are the chance of them being damaged in shipping?
Thanks, Vincent

There has been a couple of similar questions posed here very recently. Suggest you use the search function to look for them.

JB Hi Fi in Lynn Mall in Auckland had a Samsung Tablet in there last weekend. Just looks like a giant version of their Galaxy phones.

Isn't that model about $1300?

For Angry Birds you need a device with a decent processor - 1GHz if you can.

Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy Tab would be best.....and it's not cheap. On the birght side, it is also a full-blown phone, so if you're happy to have a carry bag and use a bluetooth headset for phone calls, you could combine your phone and the Galaxy Tab into one.

There will be more devices out in the next few months. They WILL get cheaper! :-)

Angry birds is awesome on my Archos 101 10" tablet. There is a blog here about it: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/hairy1

It was $530 NZD all up. Capacitive screen. There have been some reports of the USB ports stopping working on them but apart from that a good little tablet.

Cheers, Matt.

I have the Dell Streak, 5" Screen, 1GHz processor and Android 2.2, I have both Angry Birds & Fruit Ninga, both are Awesome on the Streak. Angry Birds on the Streak is up there with the iPad version.

The guys at work are a bit put out when they play Angry Birds on their iphones (and even iPhone 4's) and then see my Streak and how great it looks. lol. Please note that the Streak is also a Phone and can be used just like a standard smartphone - against the ear.

I bought my Streak here in OZ from TeleChoice (unlocked) for $749 AUD ($964.44 NZD). So well above the budget you have set, I think your only option is going to be TradeMe, Ebay or China. Or another thought is either of the following -

The Telstra T-Touch Tab™ - Link here $299 AUD ($385 NZD), 768MHz Processor

Optus MyTab -  Link here $279 AUD ($359.25 NZD), 800mhz processor

One thing I have found is that the cheaper the Tablet the lower the processor is and also keep in mind that the OS most likely be 1.6 - 2.1 at a pinch, not the current 2.2 Froyo, also for long term use you might find they wont update to Gingerbread 2.3 or HoneyComb 3.0. Even my Dell Streak shipped with 1.6, go figure.

Even the Streak will take some time to get to 2.3 and hopefully get 3.0 as this one is more targeted at Tablet devices.

Good luck mate

Jace
