csipsimple for me. I had tons of trouble with the audio drivers until some bright sparks at samdroid ported the nexus s audio drivers to my spica. Since then it has been good.

I am running the spica not the galaxy s however.

Cheers, Matt.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Running sipdroid on Galaxy S with Xnet VFX.

I'm hoping the built-in SIP support in Gingerbread will be able to take over that job.

I've used SIPDroid with some success on Android generally....

The Google Nexus S (Android v2.3) explicitly supports VoIP in Menu -> Settings.

Ive tried sipdroid but have trouble with it hanging or crashing. Do you get echo at the remote end?

I've been using 3cx for a little bit and it seemed to be the best app I've tried but I get bad echo at receivers end.

I am hoping that 2.3 native sip will work well.

Its definitely a mixed bag. If I have to make an important call then I'll generally choose the mobile as its a lot more predictable.

I don't know whether your wifi can impact the performance but your modem on the Galaxy S certainly can. Since mine is rooted and running a custom rom, it might not be comparable.

However, the general concensus is that sipdroid is just flakey beta software. Sadly, its the only thing that supports the authentication that Xnet requires.

I use Sipdroid with Sipgate on my N1 , mainly to make cheap or free (800, 888, 877 etc.) calls to the US. This is usually over wifi and I haven't tried over 3G since data charges would be excessive.

It works pretty well and I haven't had anybody at the other side complain so far.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.
