Im having a problem with my Vodafone (Huawei) 845 where the com.android.phone process crashes when I receive a phone call.

When receiving a call the phone will begin to vibrate and the answer/decline screen begins to come up along with caller details, but then an error that the process com.android.phone has closed unexpectedly, and it then gives me the option to force close (sic). If I force close then it effectively declines the call.

However sometimes - not all of the time - I can answer the call by pressing the call answer (green phone) button and hold a conversation, although the process crash error covers the screen during and after the call until I select force close.

I primarily use a Slingshot SIM, however I have tried with a 2degrees SIM and the same problem occurs.

I have googled the problem and tried solutions including turning off data and roaming but to no avail. The issue began in the last two or so weeks (i think) and I cannot correlate this to anything specific. I have removed all of the apps that I had installed in the last month, and restarted the phone, but this still hasnt worked. The only calling related app is SIPdroid which is not running in the background and didnt cause problems when first installed.

Some forums suggested a hard reset - how would I do this and what does it wipe?
Any others having a similar problem either on the 845 or Android in general?

I purchased it from DSE online, so will take it into their store tomorrow for help, but dont expect any help other than to send it away.

Thanks in advance!

Backup any data you want to keep off the phone (pictures etc). Make sure your contacts have saved sync online to google/gmail.

Factory Data Reset (this is like a soft reset):
Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset

Full Hard Reset:
Enter recovery mode by turning your device on while holding down 'volume up' and 'Start call' (green) then powering on your device.

Thanks ragnor, a hard reset did the trick.

Ive found that finding help for droid problems is harder than you would think, as there is too much information on google for every little problem, and it takes a lot of time to filter through it
