As posted on @Technobuffalo and others (http://bit.ly/ehvIf8) Google has launched an Android Web Store allowing you to buy, view and download apps directly to your android device.

To be honest it is about time!! Check it out at http://market.android.com

You're right, it is about time. Will have a look later when I'm near a computer. To be honest it surprised me when I first bought my android phone back in May that Google didn't already have this facility.

It will be about time when they get the Sign In fixed. Sigh - bit of a cockup on their part.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Awesome working now.

Mine went straight in from my PC. Entered my google account and bang, can see all the apps I have etc and remote load apps to my phone. Will be great for remote loading apps to my wifes phone when I see something she may like as well.

Andoid noob here, but it seems that the only benefit of this web store is if your device doesn't have the Market app on it.
Is that correct or am I'm missing something?

it's more convenient than having to browse for new stuff on your actual phone...

So if somebody finds an app that they think you'd like; they could email you with a link that you open on your PC and magically install to your phone!

I would imagine that if your phone doesn't have the Market app, then the web-based Android Market wouldn't work.

I think you're right. How long does it take to get the OTA install? The web market says my download is complete, the Market on my SGS indicates that it's downloaded but it has yet to appear in the apps list.

Any idea?

It's easier to browse on the web via PC or Mac than on the phone. I'm guessing it's just to make the whole experience smoother and more flexible...
