Or tv3ondemand for that matter?

Doesn't look like my phone will be getting 2.2 upgrade anytime soon, if at all and I'd really liek to be able to watch on demand content on my phone.

Nope.

Unless you grab the 2.1 "port" of flash that is floating around. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686736

It works well on Android v2.2 on a phone with an ARM7-based 1GHz processor.

TV3's on demand works, too.

Unless an app is directly made for it, you're going to need flash and as far as I know 2.1 doesnt support flash.

However have a look at custom ROMS for your phone, I have an Acer Liquid and 2.2 is still not out for it, but I downloaded and installed a Custom 2.2 Froyo rom and it works perfectly.

It's just not an official release, Flash works great too.
