Call me old fashioned if you like, but I turn my phone's sound off overnight to stop idiots in other parts of the world from calling and disturbing my sleep.

The problem is, I only remember to switch the sound back on about 50% of the time. This means I often miss incoming calls early in the day.

So what I'd like is an app that notifies my Windows 7 desktop when the phone rings - it could go to the browser which is open about 99% of the time anyway.

Any ideas?

Alternatively finding out how to make the sound on the phone automatically switch on at, say, 6:30 am, would be good.

I use tasker which costs money but not much and you can automate almost anything.

I have it set to silence everything at night in case I forget and then turn on sounds to set volume at 7:30am.

You can get it to do hundreds of things.
Examples I use are few but
It will turn on GPS and Mobile phone locator if it receives a text with a certain phrase for if I lose it or it is stolen.
Another that will crank up the volume and play a particular audio file to locate it via SMS.
Turn GPS locator on evry day for a set period between 5 and 6 when it is likely to be outside if stolen.
Automatically change screen brigtness when I play angry birds then return screen to auto-brightness when I close it.
Auto launch WinAmp when I insert headphones.

I keep meaning to add more but the variables are sometimes confusing.

Probably the biggest bang for your buck on the App market if used to a good extent.

Try http://lifehacker.com/#!5633074/android-notifier-sends-notifications-from-your-phone-to-growl

Or use one of the tasker/timer apps that mute your phone and unmute it at certain times/locations/etc

I use http://market.android.com/details?id=com.noimjosh.profile which also has a scheduling feature for the profiles.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think MyPhoneExplorer (http://www.fjsoft.at/en/) has a notifier in amongst its list of features.

Hi I just tried this out and it works perfectly. I am using it over wifi as my phone is connected to wifi when I am at home.

I would suggest the op tries this out because I think it covers exactly what you asked for.

Yes, this looks like exactly what I was after.

It seems to work as promised too. This is good.

+1 on Tasker

I also might give that lifehacker link a try for things & giggles

I must have been just out of time to edit...
Android Notifier ROCKS! Just the thing for laying in bed with a netbook while the phone is on silent! And the wifi setup was one second. Too easy!

How about Shush!

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.publicobject.shush&feature=search_result

It allows you to choose a time, when you slience your phone, and automatically re-enables the ringer after that period. It can be used over night, during meetings, whatever.

I've been using Android Notifier for about 6 months and found it to be really good. Very stable and reliable - it just does what its designed to do and does it well. And is free!
