Cyanogenmod.com had just released the final version of CM7.0 for most new android phones.

http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable

CM7 is based on (AOSP) Android Gingerbread 2.3.3.

To install on a rooted phone with ClockworkMod:

First Method (via RomManager)

    1. Launch RomManager.Optional: Choose the first option in the app, Flash ClockworkMod Recovery to update to the latest version.

    1. Select the Download ROM option from the main menu in the ROM Manager.

    1. Select the CyanogenMod option, and then choose the latest version of CyanogenMod from the menu.Optional: When you select the latest version of CyanogenMod, check the Google Apps* option.

    1. Once the ROM is finished downloading, it asks if you would like to Backup Existing ROM and Wipe Data and Cache.

    1. If Superuser prompts for root permissions check to Remember and then Allow.

    1. The [phone] will now reboot into the recovery, wipe data and cache, and then install CyanogenMod. When it's finished installing it will reboot into CyanogenMod.

Any suggestions on where to find simple step-by-step on rooting then installing this mod on a Nexus One ?

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

No good for me, I still got the same issues [and more] that I had with an earlier CM7 install.
Went from CM6 to CM7-RC4 last night on my HTC Desire [Back up & wipe through Rom manager] and it was just awful, the camera still crashes every time I use it and no 720P video as far as I could see unless that is the default and it just doesn't say.

Programs would open as a blank page with a title border then ask me to force close after about 20 seconds. Had to reboot a couple of times to get it stable enough to load ROM manager and restore my CM6 saved ROM. After which I apologised to CM6 for cheating on it with its younger sister and promised not leave her again.

Shame as the previous version of CM7 was working OK apart from not being able to use the camera without it crashing.

BLazeD: Agreeing

Yeah, this phone has huge potential I would think. Plus it appears to be very easy to hack.
Hopefully soon, hopefully soon. ;-)
