GT-I9000T Firmware 2.1-update1 , baseband ver I9000TDOJL1 , Kernel 2.6.29  root@SE-604#2 , Build ECLAIR.DOKA1

Error  message  I get  when I r un the  update.zip is:

E:ERROR in  /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)

It starts to run and  looks  like  its  trying to identify the  phone , by looking  for  "I9000" and  falls  over  with the  above  message

Then I got  brave ( or  may be  follish ) and  took the  update.zip apart and  drilled  down and  found the  string  I9000 twice and  edited it ti I9000T , the  re  zipped  it and put  back on  phone.

Now when I run the  update.zip it got  further  but  just  stopped.

I'm way  out  of  my  depth  now.

Where can I get  the  right  update.zip to  ROOT  my  phone ?

Use z4root from here, an APK not an update.

Can you get to Download mode ? (Turn on phone holding in the volume down, home and power buttons) ?

(just hold in the power button for 5 or so seconds to exit it, - not while flashing tho!)
