Hey,

Just a bit of assistance needed in regard to the LG Optimus One P500. I'm thinking of getting one of these for my wife from Vodafone as a relative is changing plans on their Vodafone account and I can one for $39. However, my wife is on Telecom and I'm not sure whether a Vodafone purchased phone will work on Telecom XT. I know the phone is WCDMA:900/2100, GSM:850/900/1800/1900 and I know that Telecom is WCDMA 850, so that would suggest that it doesn't work on XT. The question I have is that Telecom also sell the same phone for use on the XT network. I've got the WCDMA network info from various sites, including LG, so will this phone actually work on XT or not? Can Telecom get a slightly different version of the phone with WCDMA 850/2100? I can't seem to find any info on this version of the phone (if it actually exists). Any info would be appreciated.
Cheers.

I purchased myp 500 from dick smith, so a 2degrees phone really.
I use 2degrees, but I tested telecom network for a friend 2 months ago in Auckland, no problem there.
It is using the 2100 frequency

Which is not designed to be used like that. You will likely end up with a terrible coverage experience. Not recommended at all considering telecom sells the correct phone also.

True, highly likely to see drop out or other problem.
Would recommond you to get one from telecom if your wife want to stay on telecom

Thanks for that. It's as I assumed that telecom can access/modify an altered phone. Interesting that there's no mention of this on the LG websites. You'd think they'd list that both were available, unless Telecom modify them themselves, with LG's permission.

I think I'll make her change to 2 degrees. Can't really go past the phone for $40.

Thanks.

It's a pity she's on Telecom as you can get a Vodafone/2Degrees compatible one for ~$300 from Eking

All major languages are supported
What language are you specifically looking at?

I could tell by your id Laughing, awesome, is there any noticable lag when typing? My ideos seems to lag especially when switching between input languages.

Like I have said in a previous post, it's best not to import phones for XT + if you do import a phone the support is not there, not really worth it for the little money you save off the phone.

Hijacking threads is a big no-no, please keep it on topic.

But yeah most phones except the iPhone will not work on Telecom XT due to the frequency support not existing, you could run the phone on 2100MHz but you will not get much signal outside of town unless you are beside a 2100MHz site. You have got to look at things long-term, what features could you get from XT to make up for the money of buying a new phone? How about My Favourites? You could save money calling your wife, she won't have to switch to a new phone of which can save you more money... I would say the P500 is a far better phone than the Ideos.

loving the LG P500 on XT, very happy with the purchase
One question though...

I have unchecked the box for audible touch tones, and this is fine, except when i went to search in android market, click click click click, drives me mad! (and new phone = lots of apps to download Cool)

it does not make a sound when texting or emailing, on either gmail, or ms exchange, seems to be only the android market so far?
anyone have any ideas?

i can live with it for now ...
