Has anyone used this and advise me?

I am used to Nokia maps and it looks over complicated. How does one download a map and can one get pretty much all the subway stations, hotels, tourist attractions, visitor info centres etc? Can one also add in routing with voice guidance?

I trust you can download big chucks like USA States or other smaller individual countries right? So if I happen to see city A and then at last minute want to see city B I don't need to rework it.

What sort of Android phone? HTC has 'locations' as well as the usual google maps, which allows you to download and store maps.
Mapdroyd has street maps but they aren't well detailed.

Only Desire HD ROM's have Locations... Unless you run an HD rom... But it is good, maps are a little pricey though.

I run MapDroyd and Sygic on my android..

Mapdroyd is a bit like a poor mans google maps where you can download and store local copies of maps, it utilises GPS but has no search functions but hey for the occasional where the f am I it fits the bill and all at zero data use

Sygic is a GPS based turn by turn navigator and is absolutely fantastic, i find myself using this rather than my standalone tomtom more often than not, user interface is user friendly and maps/directions very tomtom like, again it uses stored maps. One thing i like about this program is if you have multiple country maps you don't have to manually select them, it jumps to whichever country you are in :P

Oh? The ones I downloaded for NZ and Oz were free. And the phone came with UK/Europe installed.

Sorry didn't realise it was only available on HD. I assumed it would be there on all late model HTC phones.

I don't hava Android yet ... still thinking.
Still with my Nokia due to their GPS support.

What I am wanting is full country maps can be loaded onto the phone and it includes POIs like hotels, tourist attractions, subway stations etc .... Because I might get to the place overseas and then decide to visit it and I don't want to jump onto a computer and do all the work before I head out ........... And supporting voice guidance (which I am willing to pay by the week or whatever).

Some (not sure if all) NZ LG Androids come with N-Drive. Quite a good app, uses no data.
It comes with POIs, voice nav, etc.
