I'm delighted with my 2S all the way from Romania. I need to give it an IP address to connect to my work WiFi network. How is this done?

Expect a few more dumb questions. Thanks in advance.

Stephen

From the home screen:

Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks

You should see a tickbox to turn wifi on and a submenu to enter your details.

Yes, and I can connect to the WiFi network but it tries to automatically assign an IP address whereas I need to add one manually

Ah, that I can't help you with I'm afraid. I've never tried to set up a particular IP on mine.

Hit Menu button when in Wi Fi settings and you should see 'Scan' and 'Advanced'

Click on advanced and I think you'll see where to go from there as there's an IP Settings section

can you set a reservation within your scope so it gets the same IP from DHCP everytime? or does this not work for you?

Try here http://www.techtin.com/gadgets/how-to-configure-ip-address-of-wi-fi-connection-on-a-android-phone-samsung-galaxy-tab/

Fantastic

Thanks for motivating me to get it sorted.

Cheers,

Stephen

ps this app apparently manages various different IP addresses - WiFi Static http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-farproc-wifi-static-znDq.aspx
