Anyone ordered one of these or a similar product? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220819002685

Wonder if they really are able to do fullscreen 1080p content, or if the player will only show the mobile version of streams that are really low quality etc.

Particually interested in how it handles ustream.

The Warehouse Stationery will be selling the Flexiview Android Tv for $399.

I've found that there doesn't appear to me much information out there about these devices. I'm interested in having a box that I can plug my portable harddrive into though I'm not sure if they will read NTFS formatted hard drives or not.

Don't expect much in the way of technical help from Warehouse Stationery on that one then...

As an aside, what benefit do Android Freeview boxes offer over other boxes?

Thats over 3x the price, so I think that warehouse stationary can keep them unless they provide any benifit over the ebay ones.

NTFS shouldnt be a problem for anything that claims to do HD, all the others I have looked at recently have done it, otherwise there is no way to store all the large MKV files etc.

Those are not Freeview boxes. They are just media players.

Hmmm, ease of getting the other box is a big incentive, I havent seen the logitech sold outside the USA and we all know how hard they like to make getting things sent here.

I might consider it if someone will say for sure that it is quite happy to fullscreen a ustream feed without problems.

Ignore the boxes, they aren't full 1080P. they are running Android 2.2, which I doubt anyone has customised!

the Android 3.1 boxes and above will do 1080P

In reality a lot of people get confused with Android vs Google TV. Android is a mobile OS designed for mobiles, not designed for Tablets or Phones.

The Flexview/AndroidTV boxes also will not do 1080P apparently, there is a lot of stuttering and also, it only really displays at what looks like about 800x480?

The display/icons look huge

Basically a waste of money, get an AppleTV2 or WD Live box for less money :)

Edit: sorry max res is  480x854 for Android 2.2

Just came back from Warehouse Stationery, they've got the unit on display and you can play with it.

The unit connected to a HD TV and it does support HD output, not sure is 720p or 1080p. The remote is like a Wii remote. It works fine on youtube, angry birds, internet browsing, weather apps, facebook and twitter. For gmail, is better to use the keyboard Logitech Wireless Keyboard With Touch Pad (they said is free with the unit).

were you able to install apps on it thru marketplace? thats the downfall of most of the boxes I have seen.

Able to get streaming video on it? Thats what I really would want it for. Ideally with a web interface that I can hit to start/stop/change streams.

Yes, the staff (which is my mate) allow me to download and install angry bird on it. The unit got built in Wifi and ethernet port.

I believe you can install video player app from the market and play the video on SD card or usb drive. Haven't try that in the store.

I may go back tmr and try it.

Coming back to the Logitech Revue - considering getting one via Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Companion-Google-Keyboard-Controller/dp/B0040QE98O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1312370273&sr=8-1

At USD$99 and with a Android 3.1 upgrade due shortly would be pretty hard to beat? Or am I missing something here...

Hmm, that is tempting, does it work with the 50Hz HD rates tho? that gets locked out on most US kit to prevent export to places where they rip you off more

This thread here kinda indicates it should be OK:

http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Revue/Will-Logitech-Revue-with-Google-TV-work-outside-of-the-USA/td-p/499760

Also this thread says that the PSU is 100 - 240v, 50/60hz so should be OK here:

http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Revue/Logitech-Revue-power-supply/td-p/499722

Very tempting...

Is this google TV box open to the Android market place?

Thinking of getting a media player for the parents but looks like you'd need an hdmi output freeview device to route through this. That's ok though as here in NZ most older users don't want to have to use a keyboard to get the TV news running! - So I'd still put the freeview box into another AV input on the TV.
