I'm right now in a conference call with BNZ, where they have announced a BNZ Android app. It's available in the Android Market now.

The BNZ team expects the number of Android handsets to be close to iPhone in our market, and growing rapidly. They are seeing an increase in number of Android visitors to the their mobile website.

It's either a sign of my inner nerd or a sign of my contempt for my current bank that this app alone makes me want to look at moving banks.

This release was so super secret one of the devs, who i consider pretty close, wouldn't even tell me about it :( Glad to see it made the light of day though. Screenshots look nice and slick.

Downloaded the app. And road tested it.

Works will. Like the scrolling fields.

Still says I have no money, but at least I have no money all wrapped up in a good usable Android app Laughing

Is transferring money in the app possible? Westpac don't have an app but a mobile version of their site where you can view the balance of your accounts and that's pretty much it. Certainly no transfers for some bizarre reason.

Also tempted to switch to BNZ because of the app.

from the BNZ
  • Secure banking on your iPhone, Android or other smartphone
  • Check your account balances
  • Transfer money from one account to another
  • Pay your bills
  • Find your nearest BNZ store or ATM (iPhone and Android apps)

it makes the log in process using NetGuard fairly painless

How do they protect against that, and more importantly how do we know we haven't logged into a fake banking site?

Only install apps that come from the BNZ publisher...

Unfortunately, people are pretty dumb.

Bnz aren't though, I'd love to know what kind of measures they have in place to counter this, with Android Marketplace being a bit ....rogue...

installed it, like it certainly gives me more options.

Have no issue with Netguard, not sure what other ways you could safeguard it other than finger print scanning.
