Been trying various ROMs for the HTC Desire with a2sd to maximise the internal free space but haven't settled on one.

Anyone got any personal recommendations for a good small one? [Roughly 100 - 110MB]

Currently trying MIUI_AU which is OK but it crashes all the time and the latest update won't let me have root access. Can't use GoSMS as sending texts causes a reeboot.

Have previously tried LeeDroid, InsertCoin but without a2sd and the internal space would quickly get to less than 10% free showing the low-space icon constantly.

With the a2sd ROMs I can maintain about 80MB free internal space.

I'm currently using the SuperNova Xtreme ROM. It's basically stock-standard HTC SenseUI but modded so that your sdcard is utilised as internal memory.

As an example, my phone says I have 25.10GB of internal memory ;-)

Im running the latest Leedroid with Aps2sd++ Works quite well.

Previously was running CM7 perfectly. Again with apds2sd
When you run those ROMs you also need to flash the dalvik cache to sd zip. And to tkae use of that you need to partition your sd to ext 3 or 4
I have found 3 to be less troublesome that 4

Do those and you will have plenty of space

A broad definition of the term.....   OK

I am running MIUI_XJ, so far so good! I also use GoSMS and have no problems with that. Is there any reason why you insist on a2sd? I am using the D2EXT X-Part version and it's fantastically fast and smooth.

Yeah I am being generous.  I mean that the OS is very pretty and has nice functionality but when it gets a bit stressed it reverts to the boot animation and might reload a coupe of times before settling.

Actually I take back my "OK"...what was I thinking, it's awful [for me]

Not so much insisting, just that I have only heard of a2sd as it seems to be what I see included mostly with custom ROMs.  I had never heard of D2EXT.

I might look for that one, I do like MIUI but when I update to the latest version via the inbuilt update, I cannot get root access even after installing superuser via Titanium backip, busy box etc.
Never had an issue before but that one has me beat. Also the updated version crashed on me a fair bit.

Can you explain what you mean when you say "flash the dalvik cache to sd zip" ?

I have a 512MB EXT 3 partition, is that enough?

I simply have CM7 and use androids built in "Move to SD" function". Works no worries, and have yet to run out of space.

If you really wanna get more space S-OFF and change the system partitions, its really not a big deal ;) i can help if you want. I dunno why people are so scared of it

Then you can have a data++ rom or something

Lamens terms it pretty much pushes alot of the system partition and data partition to the SD Card so you generally your SD Card partition goes:

FAT32(Remaing Space) + 1G EXT4 + 300MB EXT4 + 100MB Linux Swap. will generally give you about 1GB of "internal" storage

Or just change your system partition to CM7r2 etc... which actually changes your system partition properly, i cant remember what size but check it here, check youtube for good guides

This ROM is gorgeous.  Just installed and even with 193 app elements I have 124MB free of the 154MB internal.

Partitioned my card using free Easeus Partition manager, I think the ROM install did the rest.

Going to give it a bit of a thrashing tonight.

I have been running the above linked LeeDroid Desire HD port for the last few weeks and it runs ok on the whole and is a nice OS.  But I find the downside to be that it is a bit hoggy on the RAM. Usually I have 300MB used with less than 100MB free even with everything cleared. This causes a lot of slow down after a while, especially accessing the pull down quick menu, running games and opening apps etc.

The free space is great though, have had 90MB+ free of 154MB since install

Have you compared it to the standard LeeDroid for Desire for look, feel, & speed?

I didn't use the standard Leedroid really, only for 5 mins as it was based on earlier stuff. i was after the gingerbread keyboard at the time. In fact my only complaint about the HD port is it doesn't have the 2.3 keyboard either :(
