Hi guys,

Is it possible to update the phone to 2.2 (or similar). If so can anyone point in the right direction on how to do so.

There is a 2.2 rom but there are some bugs and things not working yet:

Frozen Zodiac Juice Froyo ROM by Cedric

Theire is also a heavily modified 2.1 rom called Pro Celestial which is good:

Both of these require "rooting" the phone and flashing the new rom so you need to be down with voiding warranties.

+1 to Pro Celestial. Very good rom, much faster and more responsive than stock.

Im a late adopter to the whole android thing and picked up one of these 845's brand new for $100 to see what they were like. Not too fussed about voiding warranty.

Will look in to the celestial thing.

Is "rooting" putting the file in a certain directory on the microSD?

Nah, "rooting" is giving you super-user permissions like most linux distros

If you're referring to something talking about the root of your sd card (put this file on the root of your sd card) it just means on the card, not in any folder.

Rooting the phone is, as mentioned above, gaining root access (administrator rights) to the file system.

Get "z4root". It works perfectly on the 845.

There will be a link to it on XDA-developers.com. If you haven't signed there yet, do it. :-)

As for z4root, Google kicked it out of the Market...for waddeva...Its a great app.
