Just posting in faintly vague, remote, distant hope that someone may know where to buy (or more info) on this phone which I would like to buy.

You can buy the XT version (UMTS 850/1900/2100) already from techbrands

This is the Mk16a version - I'm after the Mk16i for VF network.

I have trawled the web but with no luck - if anyone has any helpful info that would be appreciated

Cool, it's like a Sony Ericsson XPERIA neo, but with a keyboard.

I know it's not what you want, but with the Sony Ericsson XPERIA neo running Android 2.3.4 you can dock it and run a conventional mouse and keyboard off it and run the HDMI to a monitor.

Maybe the MK16i will turn up soon with broader market availability as it's still new and early days yet.

Mind you the sales blurb on the page you showed does say compatible with Vodafone and 2degrees so guess there'd be no harm in asking as they may have the MK16i

Yeah, it says "Compatible with VF" because it supports UMTS 2100, which I understand the majority of VF's 3G coverage is in (someone correct me if wrong), but there are still SOME 900 UMTS 3G, and with my job I travel, so need/want max 3G coverage.

I have been considering a non-keyboard phone. I'm a bit scared to be honest at how i'd go with a soft-keyboard. I would really want to spend a week with a touch-only phone before committing to buying one

I have asked techbrands for an ETA on the 16i, but no reply as yet :-(

Next try is to email Sony Ericsson themselves - who knows.....!

i think in some area, it is only covered by umts 900 - no GSM coverage at all (johnR can correct me if i am wrong) - it is definitely a good idea to have phone that can do wcdma 900/2100!

btw, since using swype, i found out that i dont need keyboard anymore. i was using milestone2 for 9 months prior to getting sgs2 in july

The 900/2100 version is being released in the UK tonight!

The phone at Expert Infotech will be the same (XT) 850/1900/2100 version that techbrands are selling

My mistake, I just assumed that as it was in the Vodafone/2Degrees phone list and not in the XT phone list and that it only turned up ...like yesterday that it was a 900/2100 GSM/IMT phone.

And the bit that said, "Compatible with the Vodafone, 2Degrees, Slingshot, BLACK + WHITE and other HSDPA 900/2100 3G networks.", made me jump to conclusions.

I just installed Swype Beta on my Sony Ericsson X10i, like just now, as I'm not a natural virtual keypad t....a..pp... E ..e.....r
Maybe I'm a swiper instead, guess we'll find out in a few weeks.

Would rather buy from Clove than einfotech :)

Really interested in the Pro as well, though not sure if I would prefer using a QWERTY over swype on my SGSII.

Just like the idea of a QWERTY messenger phone for work purposes and such.
