Hi guys,

Does anyone know if the Samsung tab 10.1 3g version takes micro sim cards or the standard sim card?

Just purchased one and the device wouldn't recognise the standard sim - works fine in my phone and tried someone else's SIM. Took it back to the shop and they swapped it out with a new one but i'm getting the same error "please insert sim" when sim is in.

You putting the SIM in the wrong way then

Sim can only go in one way and this is shown by pic.

Is there a diff between data only sims compared to data+voice? Worth a shot....

Issue resolved!

Turns out after you put the SIM in, you have to restart the device.

First of all, i'm an idiot.

Secondly, Samsungs only troubleshooting was "how old is the SIM" then they told me to return it.

Thirdly, the software could have been better. Why have a message saying "Please insert SIM". It should have read something like "Please insert SIM and restart".

It makes sense too, just about all phones require you to take the battery out before putting in the SIM so phones are being restarted, but the tab allows you to put in the SIM while it's on but doesn't indicate a restart is required.

I'll give Bond and Bond and call and let them know the one i returned isn't faulty.

First thing I would of done is restarted the device after putting in the SIM

I was under the impression that you could damage a SIM by inserting it with the device turned on?

It's a really nice tab. Flash support is awesome.

In my opinion, much better than ipad2.

Quite possible


So why say "Please insert SIM" while the device is on and give the ability to put it in while it's on? No warnings anywhere to say not to do this.

Luckily, my sims are fine.

is it lagging?

I've played with 5 different tablets (ipad2, galaxy tab 10.1, iconia 10.1, toshiba 10.1 and xoom) last Saturday at JB Hi-Fi and most laggy and slow was samsung galaxy 10.1 :(

shame really, I wanted to buy it for xmas but now :( All the look is great. Could it be just one bad sample? or TouchWiz thingy?

Most impressed with Xoom, but I want SAMSUNG :(
